[Goal]
This interview template serves to learn how pop-up village hosts think about well-being of their residents, choice of locations, and general challenges while planning their pop-up.
[ZuWell Intro]
ZuWell is an environmental well-being compass for pop-up cities and pop-up villages. It aims to solve/prevent the following problems:
Negative environmental influence on physical and mental well-being of pop-up village residents Gaps in awareness of pop-up village organizers on how they might improve location/venue curation process and the overall experience of their citizens Inefficient feedback mechanisms that the residents could use to voice environmental factors that influence their experience Interview
Booga specific
What do you remember from the pop-up / highlights? 3 good / 3 bad | Positive: it actually happened! I was impressed of Istanbul. I wanted to build it, and announced it on the same day Vitalik announced
After 2 months I was tired of hosting. I had a job,
Positive: I felt the Zuzalu vibe with 2 people who arrived. (”Vibe” when you progress on ideas. Your understanding of situation increased.)
“You, nature, and your thoughts” - you had .
What kind of space did you want to have? | I hired location assistant to help me find the place. (You need smeone local to fix problem. Problems pop-up, (Example of gardener watering electricity, transportation help, etc.)
Key elements I looked for in a space: Outside of big town, but achievable distance from a big city. I wanted to be next to the ocean. Wanted to have an additional experience to walking etc - I chose water sports. Food infra was important - for enough different restaurants. Also safety.
What surprised you / you needed to adapt over time? | I needed a working space. (I brought my standing desk) Everyone who comes should have their own working space - esp. for people who stay longer to have their own space.
| We didn’t have a hangout spot.
| We had spiders in the house. They appeared in the beginning, we talked to the village, they told us spiders are ok.
Gender ratio: 5 female. (1 independent, 4 with partners) 8 male.
How did people hear about the retreat | Twitter. We didn’t do a great job
| I did a rough estimation how much the room should cost.
| For the next one I plan to help people be focused on their project.
| One guy came but didn’t want to stay. Maybe he didn’t like it? For the next make it clearer: What to expect. (It could’ve been another reasons
| We had place for cooking - people enjoyed it!
| With one group they were hustling, we did morning routine, exercise, journaling, then after 12pm we worked.
| I hope ZuWell can help having a calendar of events. I want to plan my year 2025 around ZuVillages.
| It’s more important how I feel in a pop-up village, rather than the agenda, etc.
If you create safe and creative environment for people to expand further. They will create their own agenda [Una] What he really want to feel because it’s exciting, sense of belonging. | It’s nice to say everyone is welcome. (Artists, etc)
[Una] Tooling needed to streamlined: Calendar of pop ups (but only popups), cashflow (for organizers)
| For the next season I want to make NFT tickets, to curate list of addresses to be join.
Problem: Knowing what pop-up people/friends will be going, so I can meet them. (CryptoNomadClub might help?)
What makes people feel better? Safety (Gender ratio), sense of belonging, making people feel at ease.
Need for agenda?
Small group < 7ppl, no agenda needed 5-15 people, good to have a group activity ~20 people - good to share the same experience, topic, etc. 50+ people: good to have larger agenda
We had cooking, morning runs, exercise routine (one person led it, at the same time every day).
Many people were 1st time in Vietnam, people visited sand dunes.
How important is location integration for you? The beauty when you travel is to follow someone who lives there. (How they eat, where they go out...) To feel the normal life.
Thinking of a new spot
The vibe was weird with some people. Some people were working non-stop. No value to create other value.
In 4 days, we both progressed on our ideas.
There was feedback on the forum that it looks like “vacation house”
Photos and videos are great for context. Show LIVE what’s happening in every pop-up camp?
We want people not just on a retreat, but doing something.
People come with intention of what they want to do.
